A camping table isn't essential, but once you've used one it's surprisingly hard to go back. Whether you're making breakfast, playing cards with friends or simply want somewhere to put your mug instead of the floor, a lightweight table can make campsite life much more comfortable.
If you're really tight on luggage space, this is probably one of the first items to leave behind. But if you have room, it's a worthwhile addition.
What to Look For
Packed Size
On a motorcycle, long and narrow usually packs better than wide and flat. Always compare the packed dimensions with the space available in your panniers or tail bag.
Stability
There's nothing more frustrating than balancing a hot brew on a wobbly table so individually adjustable legs are a bonus.
Weight
Most compact camping tables weigh between 700g and 1.5kg. Consider whether the extra comfort is worth carrying if you're packing very light.
If you're only heading away for one night, you can probably leave the table at home. For a full festival weekend or a week touring, it's one of those little luxuries that makes camp life much more enjoyable.
