For as long as I can remember, I dreamed of riding a motorcycle.

Life, work and family always seemed to come first, and somehow the years passed by without me taking that first step. Then, as my 40th birthday approached, I made a promise to myself:

"It's time to follow my dream."

I booked my CBT, continued with my training and eventually passed all the tests needed to gain my full motorcycle licence.

My first bike was a BMW F750 GS, and I absolutely loved it. After two years of riding and growing in confidence, I upgraded to a BMW R1250 GS, which remains my current bike and my trusted companion on many adventures.

One of the things I love most about motorcycling is the sense of freedom it brings. As a nurse, I've always found it difficult to completely switch off from work and the responsibility that comes with caring for others. Riding is one of the few things that allows me to clear my mind, focus entirely on the moment and leave the stresses of the day behind.

Motorcycling has also taken me to places I never imagined I would visit on two wheels.

My most memorable trip so far has been riding to Morocco. Standing in such an incredible place and leaving a Curvy Riders sticker on one of the highest mountains felt like a special moment and a reminder of how far I'd come since that promise to myself at 40.

People often ask whether I have a dream bike.

The answer is yes.

One day, I'd love to own a BMW R18.

Until then, I'm simply enjoying every mile, every adventure and every opportunity to keep following the dream I finally decided to chase.
